On September 30, 2013, President Barack Obama proclaimed October to be National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM); a tribute to innovative and critical thought, and to the power of human creativity and reflection.

Started in 1993, NAHM has become the nation’s largest annual celebration for the arts and humanities; a coast-to-coast recognition of the important role that arts and humanities play in the everyday lives of Americans today and generations to come.
