Author in Conversation: Richard Beeman

Richard Beeman is the author of California Reads selected book The Penguin Guide to the United States Constitution: A Fully Annotated Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Amendments, and Selections from The Federalist Papers.

Our partner Mary Menzel from the California Center for the Book spoke with Beeman, who is one of the nation’s foremost Constitutional scholars, at the Newport Beach Library at an author in conversation event in April 2012.  After the interview, Menzel led a conversation between Beeman and the audience about the Constitution, past and present, and the current state of our democracy.

For 2012, the California Reads program was part of our Searching for Democracy initiative.
