SAN DIEGO– Screening of TRIBAL JUSTICE at the Beyond the Bench Conference

SAN DIEGO– Documentary film Tribal Justice will be screened for the Conference Beyond the Bench. Beyond the Bench is a multidisciplinary statewide conference focusing on meaningful and equal access to the justice system. Sessions will address core legal issues and related social issues in juvenile law, criminal law, probate guardianship and conservatorship, domestic violence, collaborative courts, ICWA and tribal issues, veterans and military families, incarceration and reentry, mental health, education, immigration, human trafficking, trauma-informed practice, community engagement, and racial justice.
Tribal Justice Synopsis: Two Native American judges reach back to traditional concepts of justice in order to reduce incarceration rates, foster greater safety for their communities, and create a more positive future for their youth. By addressing the root causes of crime, they are providing models of restorative justice that are working. Mainstream courts across the country are taking notice.
