Like much of California, the cultural and physical landscape of the Inland Empire, home to such iconic places as March Air Reserve Base, Norton Air Base, and Riverside National Cemetery, has been shaped by the institutions and culture of the military. That story, as well as the stories of individual veterans and their families from this ethnically diverse region, will be explored in Wild Blue Yonder, a Community Stories-supported exhibit at the Riverside Art Museum, opening April 25. A collaboration between photographer Douglas McCulloh and writer Susan Straight, both Riverside residents, the project aims to increase public understanding of the veteran experience and to examine how the institution of military service has posed opportunities as well as challenges for individuals and the whole community. Public programming and online resources will support the exhibit, which will run through July 22; opening reception May 1.  For more information click HERE
