Roundtable: Between Sighs and Whispers: The Work of Juan Rulfo

LOS ANGELES-- The National Autonomous University of Mexico in Los Angeles (UNAM-LA) invites the public to a discussion about Juan Rulfo’s life and work with Sergio López Mena, Felipe Garrido and artist Eva Malhotra. The roundtable will include the main aspects of Rulfo’s literary legacy, as well as the pictorial interpretation of his work by Eva Malhotra.

The Homage to Juan Rulfo. 100 Years of his Birth is part of MXLA2017: The Year of Mexico in Los Angeles. The National Autonomous University of Mexico in Los Angeles (UNAM-LA) joins the activities of the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles in this effort to strengthen the bonds between the Mexican community and the diverse cultures that live in this city. UNAM-LA is represents Mexico’s leading higher education institution in Los Angeles and has the mission to foster educational, scientific, and cultural exchange between Mexico and the United States.

Admission is free and open to the public, but RSVP is encouraged due to limited seating. To RSVP, please visit UNAM LA’s website at unamla.org/events. Some of the presenters may speak in Spanish, translation services will be available upon request.
