War Comes Home: Public Conversations – Changing Faces: Diversity and the Veteran Experience

The San Diego Public Library presented a Public Conversation event, Changing Faces: Diversity and the Veteran Experience.

Moderated by Jorge Mariscal, Ph.D., Professor of Spanish and Chicano Literature, UCSD, and Vietnam veteran. Panelists included, Justice Castaneda, Marine Corps Sergeant, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Monica Ly, USC Sea Grant Fellow, USMC veteran, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Robert D. Lewis, RN, USMC, President San Diego Chapter, Montford Point Marines. This forum discussed how race, culture, and ethnicity affect the veteran experience and challenge stereotypes and images of veterans.

This program was one of a series of five Public Conversations organized by Cal Humanities, in partnership with the California State Library, the University of California Humanities Research Institute, hosted by partner public libraries.
