California Humanities Co-Presents The Case Against 8 at the Opening Night of 2014 Frameline Film Festival

Please join California Humanities at San Francisco’s Castro Theatre for the 2014 Frameline Film Festival’s opening night screening of The Case Against 8, a behind-the-scenes look inside the historic case to overturn California’s ban on same-sex marriage. The high-profile trial first made headlines with the unlikely pairing of Ted Olson and David Boies, political foes who last faced off as opposing attorneys in Bush v. Gore. Five years in the making, the film follows the legal team and plaintiffs—two gay couples who find their families at the center of the same-sex marriage controversy—through the complicated and emotionally charged process of taking the first federal marriage equality lawsuit to the U.S. Supreme Court. The Case Against 8 will have its HBO broadcast on June 23, click HERE to view the trailer.
