On November 4 and 5, the Documentary Film Institute hosts the Pluralities Conference at San Francisco State University in which participants are given an opportunity to reflect on their own perspectives regarding topics relating to social justice and culture. Through this process, they seek to challenge the form and function of contemporary documentary and non-fiction media.
They are looking for submissions to present/discuss in the form of Papers, Presentations, and Projects—creative works, video or audio essays, interactive media, multi-modal media, etc. on the theme of “Medias Migrations Movements.”
Possible topics to discuss include Cinemas of Exile, Media as a Structure for Movement and Migration, Documentary Forms as Political Actions, The Role of Emerging Media in Nonfiction Discourse, Global Manifesto Cinemas, etc.
The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2019
