Call For Proposals: CSU Fresno 21st Annual History Graduate Symposium, Saturday, April 27, 2019

The History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) at California State University, Fresno announces the 21st Annual History Graduate Student Symposium, which will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Fresno, California.

HGSA is now accepting papers from graduate students in any field of historical inquiry, but especially those demonstrating innovative and/or interdisciplinary approaches.

Please submit a 100-word proposal and a current curriculum vitae to HGSA at fresnostatehgsa@gmail.com by March 30, 2019.

HGSA is honored to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Joshua Nadel, Professor of History at North Carolina Central University. Dr. Nadel teaches popular courses in Latin American and Caribbean history. In his 2014 publication, Fútbol!: Why Soccer Matters in Latin America, he examines how soccer and politics are deeply intertwined throughout Latin America, and he expands our understandings of this complex intersection and its relation to national identities. Dr. Nadel will present on his forthcoming, co-authored publication, Futbolera: Women, Gender, and Soccer in Latin America.

The 21st Annual History Graduate Student Symposium is sponsored by Associated Students, Inc., the College of Social Sciences, and the Department of History at California State University, Fresno.
