BAKERSFIELD—Lecture: Being the Voice: Court Interpreting in Kern County

BAKERSFIELD—The Spanish Language & Linguistics Speaker Series at CSU Bakersfield will host a lecture by Mr. Tim Brandon, court interpreter for Kern County Superior Court. Tim Brandon has been a certified court interpreter for Kern County Superior Court for 17 years. His experience as an interpreter includes consecutive interpretation, simultaneous interpretation, and document translation. He will be speaking about his experience as an interpreter for Kern County, the California State Court Interpreter Certification Exam, job opportunities in the interpreter field, and will provide insights into obtaining certification. His talk will also cover court culture, courtroom protocols, and the professional and ethical standards involved in interpreting in a court setting. The event is free of charge, ADA accessible, and parking (including disabled parking) is available in lot A, near the Humanities Complex where the talk will be held.
