BEVERLY HILLS- Screening of AMORRES PERROS and Panel Discussion

November 20, 2017 @ 11:30 am1:00 pm

BEVERLY HILLS– Screening of Academy Film Archive original 35mm print. 147 minutes. With a special pre-show performance by Gustavo Santaolalla of an Amores Perros suite. Panelists: actor Goya Toledo and composer Gustavo Santaolalla (schedules permitting). Directed and produced by Alejandro González Iñárritu. Screenplay by Guillermo Arriaga. Cast: Emilio Echevarría, Gael García Bernal, Goya Toledo, Alvaro Guerrero, Vanessa Balche, Jorge Salinas. Alejandro González Iñárritu made his feature film directorial debut with this striking film, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. Three distinct plot lines featuring characters of varying socio-economic backgrounds are interconnected through an accident in Mexico City, which comes alive as a vital and brutal part of the film. In these three urban tales, Iñárritu exposes a Mexico rarely seen on film, and uses a sure hand to create a melodramatic tremendismo, a violent exaggeration that gets at the emotional center. Dirigida and producida por Alejandro González Iñárritu. Guión de Guillermo Arriaga. Elenco: Emilio Echevarría, Gael García Bernal, Goya Toledo, Alvaro Guerrero, Vanessa Balche, y Jorge Salinas.
