"The understanding of a culture comes from hearing the language, tasting the food, seeing personal interactions, experiencing the traditions, and so much more when it is in context."

ONLINE–Cooking for a Crowd: A Virtual Family-Friendly Workshop

June 26, 2021 @ 10:00 am11:00 am

Free

ONLINE–Join Rancho Los Alamitos and the Willmore Baking Company for “Cooking for a Crowd,” a virtual program inspired by Lydia Shinkle (1876-1960), who worked as the ranch’s cook for 23 years. Learn about Shinkle’s life and labor on a curated virtual tour, then participate in a cookie bake-along from the comfort of your home. This program is part of Rancho Los Alamitos’ 2021 series, “Women’s Stories from the Gathering Place.” Inspired by the 2020 centennial of women’s suffrage, programs in this series center on how generations of women told stories, built community, and created social change here throughout our site’s long history. Saturday, June 26, 10 am Online, Register in advance here. This project is supported by a Humanities for All Quick Grant.
