ONLINE CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP–Future Reclamation, A Sudden Experiment

December 9, 2021 @ 5:00 pm6:30 pm

Free

ONLINE CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP–Join us for “Future Reclamation, a Sudden Experiment,” a virtual, generative writing workshop that explores how we can write toward a future that honors personal and collective history. The creative writing workshop generates new writing around the question: How do we write toward a future that honors and celebrates our personal and collective histories? Labber Tony Vang, the lead facilitator, has been thinking about how migration, war, displacement, erasure, and assimilation often leaves communities of color on the brink of historical extinction, but also disconnected from their ancestry in the modern-day. During this free, virtual workshop, participants will explore elements of their lineage that have been lost and what they wish to carry forward into the future via writing prompts, collage, and assemblage techniques. Those who attend will create a poem-object that seeks to establish a link toward the future by acknowledging the past.   Thursday, December 9 from 5-6:30 pm To pre-register for the virtual event click here. (Items required for the workshop: pens/pencils/markers, paper, scissors, and glue/tape.) For more information, visit here or contact Anthony Cody, Supervising Artist, 559.278.7005, dacody@mail.fresnostate.edu.   This project is supported by a Humanities for All Quick Grant.
