PASADENA– Stop by the Pasadena Museum of History table at AstroFest’s opening day which kicks off a full week of space themed events all over Pasadena. AstroFest is a free family festival with virtual reality tours, robotics demos, art exhibits, planetarium shows, star gazing, fun photo opportunities, and more. Join lovers of astronomy from across the city for a week of FREE and family friendly space-themed events.
On Saturday July 14 from 2-8pm, AstroFest kicks off the week with a festival of hands-on activities, robotics demos, creative art displays, planetarium shows and more at the Pasadena Convention Center, with evening star-gazing from 8-10pm at the both the Pasadena Convention Center and The Paseo.
Together with scientists from all over the world who will be gathering during the same week for the 42nd COSPAR Assembly, we invite you to take part and explore our place in the Universe.
Pasadena Museum of History’s exhibit Dreaming the Universe: The Intersection of Science, Fiction & Southern California explores the history of science fiction from 1930 to 1980, and how it interacted with advances in science, changes in technology, and shifts in American society. The exhibition will feature historic artifacts, fine and graphic art, books and ephemera, and historic photographs. Oral histories of science fiction creators will be shared via audio kiosks installed in the galleries. A series of lecture/panel discussions, free public programming including several community days, and free field trips for fourth grade students will engage visitors in related topics.
