EL SEGUNDO–Panel: FUTURISM FOR SPACE TRAVELS : EXPLORATION

June 11 @ 2:00 pm4:00 pm

Free

EL SEGUNDO–Join ESMoA for a panel discussion that contemplates the concept of space exploration as it transitions to the private sector. The dialogue is meant to spark curiosity and conversation between science and humanities, and the public at large, to help understand the pros and cons of the direction in which humanity is moving. As the space program moves toward privatization, the role of the arts and humanities should be to interrogate technological progress via a utilitarian perspective. To put simply: what is the greatest good for the greatest number of people? Ribera d’ Ebre, along with humanities advisor Mark Knight PhD, a research scientist at Northrop Grumman Corp., Shana Mabari, a contemporary Light and Space artist, and Brjia Johnson, Technology Scouting Manager at UCLA Technology Development Group, will lead the discussion through a nuanced lens of social commentary, experience and expertise.
