LOS ANGELES EXHIBIT–1860 Gesaria (Kayseri) to Los Angeles 2022

LOS ANGELES EXHIBIT–1860 Gesaria (Kayseri) to Los Angeles 2022: Mapping Culture and Sharing Stories is a special exhibit that presents a contextual understanding of Armenian life from the mid-19th century Kayseri to 20th-century immigration and the impact of these histories on Armenians in California today. From the Ararat-Eskijian Museum: A special exhibit, on view from February 26- March 6, 2022, 1860 Kayseri to Los Angeles 2022: Mapping Culture and Sharing Stories, displays ancestral textiles, rugs, costumes, and dowry items among other precious heirlooms belonging to the Telfeyan and Timourian families relay daily life, customs, and traditions as well as stories from mid-19th century Kayseri, Turkey (Ottoman Empire) and 20th-century migration to California. The exhibit of these special heirlooms emphasizes the stories behind the items and probes universal themes to share with fellow Armenians and Angelenos. The exhibition is free to the public every day between 12:00-5:00 pm at the George Deukmejian Community Center at the Ararat Home of Los Angeles in Mission Hills, CA. Parking is free.
