December 10, 2020 @ 5:30 pm

Facebook Live—On Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 5:30 p.m., the Elkhorn Slough Reserve invites the public to explore the rich history of the region with an Evenings at the Estuary presentation by Reserve Stewardship Coordinator Andrea Woolfolk, and a “virtual ribboncutting” to celebrate Woven in Time: the Cultural Heritage & Historical Ecology of the Elkhorn Slough — a new multimedia exhibit made possible with the generous support of California Humanities, a nonprofit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. To watch visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/2519752044989001 Woven in Time: the Cultural Heritage & Historical Ecology of the Elkhorn Slough incorporates interactive technology, audio recordings, and historical images and artifacts. The new exhibit weaves stories from native peoples, early Spaniards, and current neighbors together with recorded ecological changes. It also features recordings from the Elkhorn Slough Reserve’s oral history project, including interviews with local farmers, families, and neighbors. These stories complement journal entries, news articles, and other historical artifacts dating back to the 1700s. This event is supported by a Humanities for All Project Grant.
