BEVERLY HILLS–Screening of 35mm Universal vault print. Presented with Academy Film Archive restoration of I AM JOAQUÍN (1969), short film by Luis Valdez. Scheduled panelists: director Luis Valdez, actor Edward James Olmos, actor Alma Martinez, and actor Tony Plana (schedules permitting). From Latin America to Hollywood: Latino Film Culture in Los Angeles 1967-2017 will present a series of film screenings, conversations with filmmakers, and online content exploring the shared influences of Latino and Latin American filmmakers and the work they created or presented in Los Angeles during the past half-century. This weekly series of programming will serve as the Academy’s contribution to the Getty initiative, Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, Latin American and Latino Art in Los Angeles.
