"The understanding of a culture comes from hearing the language, tasting the food, seeing personal interactions, experiencing the traditions, and so much more when it is in context."

FORT BRAGG FILM SCREENING–Reclaiming Archives: The Films of Jennifer Dysart

October 15, 2021 @ 6:30 pm8:30 pm

FORT BRAGG FILM SCREENING–The Larry Spring Museum in partnership with indigenous filmmaker Jennifer Dysart, will screen two short films made using audio-visual materials found in archives. As resting places for historical materials, archives are usually sites where colonial power is held in place. With an approach to filmmaking that prioritizes stories of the originating Indigenous communities, Dysart uses found footage and personal storytelling to inspire change in how countries and communities imagine and relate to archives and to history. The screening will be followed by an artist talk.   Outdoor film screening Friday, October 15, 2021, at 6:30 pm Location: Spring Commons. Enter through the gates beside 225 E Redwood Avenue, Fort Bragg CA Contact: Anne Maureen McKeating, Executive Director, director@larryspringmuseum.org, (707) 962-3131 This project is supported by a Humanities for All Quick Grant.
