FRESNO– Straight Outta Fresno Presents: Battle for Fresno State, Preliminary Round

FRESNO– Straight Outta Fresno Presents: Battle for Fresno State, Preliminary Round is the first of two battles hosted by Fresno State’s Valley Public History Initiative. In this preliminary battle, crews will battle in a 3VS3 format with prize money awarded to both first and second place. The Battle for Fresno State features an amazing lineup of judges made up of some of the most respected west coast b-boys: B-boy Ace (Master Movements Crew), B-boy Morris (Rockforce/Fallen Kings/World of Dance), and Dee Rock (Renegades). Winners of the Battle for Fresno State preliminary round will also automatically qualify for the Battle for Fresno State championship round to be held at Fresno State’s North Gym on April 15th, 2018. The Battle for Fresno State Preliminary round will also feature portions of the Straight Outta Fresno public history exhibit made up of material from the Straight Outta Fresno archive dedicated to the documentation of Fresno hip-hop history. In addition, from 10:30am-12:00pm, Straight Outta Fresno historians will be on site to conduct walk-in oral histories with any community members who want to share their history and to scan any material (photos, flyers, etc) community members would like to share. All material gathered will be uploaded to the Straight Outta Fresno public archive which will be hosted on Fresno State’s Henry Madden Library website.
