SAN DIEGO–Join us for the opening of our gallery show which will feature photography from three free workshops (hosted in Sept-Oct 2017) which invited community members to explore City Heights while learning to improve their photography skills. These workshops were specifically geared towards engaging immigrant community members to participate in photography. Gallery Show and Celebration: New American Point of View December 2, 2017 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm Contact person: Jennifer Geran, Branch Manager, 619-641-6101 This program is supported by our Library Innovation Lab Grant. America’s public libraries have played an important role in welcoming newcomers throughout our history. This program will build on that legacy by building capacity within California libraries to develop creative and innovative programs that will respond to the needs and circumstances of today’s immigrants and immigrant communities and foster more inclusive communities within our state. The Library Innovation Lab pilot project will provide training, support, and resources to a cohort of programming librarians, enabling them to design and implement new public humanities projects that will reach and engage underserved immigrant groups in their communities during the program period.
