LA HABRA– Film Screening of film Ovarian Psycos and discussion of Ideas of Community, Gendered Power Dynamics and Cultural Appropriation

LA HABRA– With a grant from California Humanities, the La Habra Library proudly introduces the second film in the series: Dismantling Archetypes: Breaking down barriers through film.  The  La Habra Library presents  film professors, historians, directors and artists who discuss films covering race, ethnicity and gender identity to encourage dialogue about these important issues.  Helen Hood Scheer, documentary film director and Professor at CSU Long Beach, curates the film Ovarian Psycos.   It is the true story about an unapologetic bicycle crew of young, Latina misfits riding the streets.  Ms. Scheer will discuss various ideas of community, gendered power dynamics and cultural appropriation.  Light refreshments provided. Sunday, December 28th, 2017, 2 pm @ La Habra Library – Community Room   La Habra Branch Library 221 E.
