LONG BEACH– Don’t miss the season two finale of KPCC’s popular storytelling series “Unheard L.A.” at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. “Unheard L.A.” features stories reflecting the wide range of people, places and perspectives of the Los Angeles area, and brings them to communities all over the region. There’s no better place to end our second season than Long Beach, which has been a home for too many to name, including a naval and aerospace industry, a rich musical history, a large Cambodian American community, and an affinity for the sea, reflected in its aquarium, lighthouses, and the historic Queen Mary. Long Beach’s unique legacy can even be seen in the venue. The Carpenter Center, located on the California State University, Long Beach campus, is named for alumni and benefactors Richard and Karen Carpenter – yes, those Carpenters. Join host Bruce A. Lemon Jr. for the live show and stick around afterward for a mixer with the participants and your fellow attendees.

Have a story you’d like to share? Let us know.

As part of this series, we’ll be hearing true stories from people of different walks of life and diverse experiences. While all of our programming is intended to be inclusive and for a broad audience, it’s possible certain themes or language may not be deemed appropriate for all ages. If this were a movie, we’d probably rate it PG.Attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. KPCC is a non-advocacy, nonpartisan, nonprofit media organization. The views and perspectives presented in our “Unheard L.A.” series do not constitute an endorsement by KPCC.
