LOS ANGELES―Words Uncaged Opening Reception

LOS ANGELES― WordsUncaged Exhibit: Healing through Art and Creative Writing will open on June 3rd in the WordsUncaged space in downtown Los Angeles. An opening ttlltreception will take place on Saturday, June 15th from 6:00pm-10:00pm. The exhibit will run through July 31st.  Words Uncaged is a creative platform created by the men of A-Yard California State Prison, Lancaster and California State University, Los Angeles professor Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy as a way to collect and preserve the first-person perspective of living with a life without parole sentence in California expressed through art and writing and also features portraits of the inmates by photographer F. Scott Schafer. Its purpose is to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated men and women to imagine empowered narratives for themselves, their families and their communities.
