LOS ANGELES– Join the Center for Council for an evening exploring how to transcend the labels that divide us and celebrate what we have in common. Beyond Us And Them: How Can We Transcend Our Difference and Reconnect Will All That We Have in Common? The evening will begin with an advance screening of Center for Council’s short documentary, “Cops and Communities: Circling Up.” The film, an insider’s look at The Center for Council’s most recent project of the same name which was supported by California Humanities and documents a gathering of law enforcement officers and community activists sharing authentic stories to explore what is possible when we transcend the thinking that our differences must divide us.   Stay after the feature for a panel discussion with:

  • John Paul Lederach, International peace builder, author, and expert on conflict transformation amidst seemingly intractable antipathy and strife
  • State Senator Holly Mitchell, a driving force in California progressive politics. recently named by The Los Angeles Times “the Legislature’s moral compass.” 
  • Rabbi Yechiel Hoffman, Director of Youth Learning and Engagement at Temple Beth Am
