LOS ANGELES CONFERENCE–1860 Gesaria (Kayseri) to Los Angeles 2022: Mapping Culture and Sharing Stories is a special exhibit with an accompanying conference that presents a contextual understanding of Armenian life from mid-19th century Kayseri to 20th-century immigration and the impact of these histories on Armenians in California today. From the Ararat-Eskijian Museum: In a special two-day event, February 26-27, 2022, the Ararat-Eskijian Museum (AEM) and the Armenian Dress and Textile Project (ADTP) will host a hybrid conference accompanying its special exhibition, 1860 Kayseri to Los Angeles 2022: Mapping Culture and Sharing Stories at the Sheen Memorial Chapel at the Ararat Home of Los Angeles. The conference features presentations from internationally recognized scholars of Armenian art, culture, and history and Q&A with audience members in an effort to share and exchange historical facts and revelations. An exceptional addition to the conference is the newly translated memoir of Setrak Timourian, which highlights topics such as politics, religion, commerce, and daily life from the Ottoman Empire to Armenian immigrant settlements in Fresno and Los Angeles in the early 19th century to 20th century. The hybrid conference is free for all those attending in-person and online. For all in-person guests, proof of vaccination and masks indoors will be required. Parking is free. Registration is required to attend live on Zoom. To register for the conference, go to the Ararat-Eskijian Museum site. The conference will also be live streamed through the Ararat-Eskijian Museum’s YouTube Channel here. CONFERENCE DATES: Saturday, February 26, 2022, 1:30-6:00 pm @ Sheen Memorial Chapel at the Ararat Home of Los Angeles Sunday, February 27, 2022, 1:30-6:00 pm @ Sheen Memorial Chapel at the Ararat Home of Los Angeles Ararat Home of Los Angeles 15105 Mission Hills Rd.
