LOS ANGELES– This year Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA has partnered with two other non-profit organizations, Q Youth Foundation and Returning Soldiers Speak, to present both fully produced and workshop productions of new plays written by these amazing groups along with readings of new works as part of LA FEST. California Humanities-supported play, Grandfathered: Where War Lingers by Adam Cloys, George Cantero, Terre Fallon Lindseth, Lucy Meseberg, Scott Mueller, Les Probst and Leilani Squire Directed by Keith Szarabajka Saturday, March 23 at 8 pm Returning Soldiers Speak is a venue for soldiers and veterans of all conflicts and wars to tell their stories through the spoken word so we who are left behind can listen to what they have to tell. This year a group of these writers joined together to tell several stories together in one play. Grandfathered: Where War Lingers tells the story of a military family of several generations coming together under one roof to face each other and their haunted pasts. This is a work-in-development that EST/LA is devoted to helping nurture into a production-ready script. We will have two public readings during LA Fest, each with a post-show conversation about the work and its important message. returningsoldiersspeak.org
