LOS ANGELES―Screening of FIRST VOTE

September 21, 2019 @ 6:30 am9:30 am

LOS ANGELES―Please join Venice Arts for a screening of First Vote, a series of student-produced short films and still images using the vehicle of storytelling to explore issues of importance to young people as they ready themselves to cast their first ballot in 2020. The event will include an exhibition of student photographs, a screening of their films, and a facilitated panel discussion with the young filmmakers. In addition, organizers will screen Brave New Films’ short documentary, Healing Trauma: Beyond Gangs and Prisons, which dives into the inner struggle of former gang members whose childhood trauma inevitably led to an anger that resulted in a criminal lifestyle and landed them in prison. Voter registration forms will be available for audience members not yet registered and interested in voting.

Date: Saturday, September 21 from 1:30pm-4:30pm

Location: Venice Arts, 13445 Beach Ave, Los Angeles 90292
