LOS ANGELES—The Chicharrón Chronicles 02: MAGSALITA/SPEAK/HABLAR

LOS ANGELES―Attend the second of three public conversations/screenings & story-gathering sessions for The Chicharrón Chronicles, a cross-cultural story-gathering project in Los Angeles’ Historic Filipinotown exploring the colonial legacy of Spain and commonalities among people of Filipinx and Latinx descent. Co-presented by Sunday Jump, a community open mic series in Historic Filipinotown, The Chicharrón Chronicles 02: MAGSALITA // SPEAK // HABLAR explores the complexities of language through a vibrant mix of spoken word performances and a participatory content development workshop co-facilitated by Sarita See, Professor of Media and Cultural Studies at the University of California Riverside. Attendees will have the chance to record their stories for the Historic Filipinotown Archive and for possible inclusion in The Chicharrón Chronicles Walking Tour, forthcoming later this year.
