LOS ANGELES—Women Veterans Eurydice Project at Los Angeles Opera
February 23, 2020 @ 5:00 am – 9:30 am
$20 – $296
LOS ANGELES—Sarah Ruhl’s play Eurydice tells the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice from a contemporary woman’s point of view. Matthew Aucoin set this play to music to create the opera. And in a series of workshops guided by Gail Soffer, women veterans of the Mindful Warrior Project have been exploring the ancient and modern versions of the story to share their own versions of finding themselves in the land of the dead/the underworld/the darkness and making their way back up into the land of the living and light – in spoken word, music, and art. Following the opera on March 23, all are invited to join a live panel discussion, a performance of arias created from poetry written in the workshops, and to view art created in the workshops.
