NEW YORK TIMES OP-DOCS―Walk Run Cha Cha

October 1, 2019 @ 5:00 am8:00 am

Photography by Shana Hagan, “Walk Run Cha-Cha”.  NEW YORK TIMES―Starting on Tuesday, October 1st, visitors to the New York Times website can view the documentary Walk Run Cha Cha for free. Link to watch: https://www.nytimes.com/column/op-docs

Walk Run Cha-Cha is directed by Laura Nix. Paul and Millie Cao, two people who lost their youth to the aftermath of the Vietnam War. Forty years later, they have become successful professionals in Southern California — and are rediscovering themselves on the dance floor.

After premiering at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, Walk Run Cha Cha also screened this past June at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles alongside four other short documentaries which tell poignant stories of separation and identity. Director Laura Nix was on hand to speak with subjects from her film, dancers Paul and Millie Cao — as the evening culminated in a flash of sequins. National immigration correspondent Miriam Jordan moderated. Walk Run Cha-Cha is supported by California Humanities through a California Documentary Project grant.
