OAKLAND– Undocumented Heart: Oakland’s Day Laborers Tell Their Stories A free series of dialogues and exhibitions exploring the lives of undocumented workers in the context of our time through their testimony, words, works of art, poetry and prose All events take place at Peralta Hacienda Historic Park 2465 34th Avenue Oakland, CA 94601 510-532-9142 Storytelling & Community Dialogues Saturday, March 31 5-7pm — On the Beast and Through the Desert: Journeys North Saturday, May 12, 5-7pm — A Feeling of Exile: Separation from Homeland and Life in the U.S. Saturday, Sept 8, 5-7pm — What Drives the Crisis? Day Laborers will speak followed by discussion moderated by Alex Saragoza of UC Berkeley and Gabriela Galicia, Executive Director of Street Level Health Project and Linda Ivey of Cal State University East Bay Art Exhibit and Celebration Saturday, October 6 2-6pm Day Laborers’ art and stories in the Peralta House Museum outdoor storyline in Peralta Hacienda’s Museum without Walls Food, music, dance and kids’ activities This program is supported by California Humanities through an Humanities for All Quick Grant.
