OAKLAND– WordsUncaged: Voices from inside Lancaster Prison, Exhibit Opening at California Humanities
May 17, 2018 @ 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Free
The Art of Storytelling exhibit series celebrates California’s rich cultural and artistic histories and dynamic changing demographics. Multi-generational storytelling and testimonials articulated in this exhibit through a variety of visual media. We launched this exhibit series in August 2016 in celebration of our first year in historic Swan’s Market in Oakland.
WordsUncaged: Voices from inside Lancaster Prison
Our next Art of Storytelling exhibit features WordsUncaged, a project envisioned California State University, Los Angeles professor Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and funded by California Humanities. Register to join us on Thursday, May 17th from 5:30 – 7:30pm for the opening reception for WordsUncaged: Voices from inside Lancaster Prison – a rare invitation to experience the unedited personal reflections and perspectives of some of the men moving through life behind bars. We’ll hear remarks from Project Director Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and renowned photographer F.Scott Schafer. There will also be a musical performance by Tim Stafford with songs inspired by a letter exchange with Lancaster inmates. Free and Open to the Public, RSVP here
