PASADENA– In conjunction with Dreaming the Universe: The Intersection of Science, Fiction & Southern California the Pasadena Central Library will be screening War of the Worlds on Saturday, August 25. For more information visit pasadenapubiclibrary.net Based on the story by H.G. Wells this 1953 production of War of the Worlds was produced by George Pal and directed by Byron Haskin. The movie won an Academy award for best visual effects and star Gene Barry and Ann Robinson. Saturday, August 25, 2018, 2:00pm @ Pasadena Central Library, 285 E. Walnut Street, Pasadena, Ca 91101 Pasadena Museum of History’s exhibit Dreaming the Universe: The Intersection of Science, Fiction & Southern California explores the history of science fiction from 1930 to 1980, and how it interacted with advances in science, changes in technology, and shifts in American society. The exhibition will feature historic artifacts, fine and graphic art, books and ephemera, and historic photographs. Oral histories of science fiction creators will be shared via audio kiosks installed in the galleries. A series of lecture/panel discussions, free public programming including several community days, and free field trips for fourth grade students will engage visitors in related topics. This exhibit is supported by California Humanities through an Humanities for All Project Grant.
