REDDING- Theater Performance and Lecture: Voices of the Golden Ghosts

Voices of the Golden Ghosts, drawing by Robert Caillier REDDING– Come see a theater performance featuring historically based vignettes performed by members of the Voices of the Golden Ghosts from Shasta and Siskiyou County. Based on historical accounts, performers will act out real life situations of African Americans in the Northern California Gold Mining regions during the 1850’s. Also historians and authors will describe in detail the situations free and enslaved African Americans faced during the 1850’s in California. This will be the first time that information of this kind about the presence and lives of African Americans working in the  Gold Mining regions of Shasta and Siskiyou Counties will be presented to a public audience.
