LOS ANGELES – ROOTS: ASIAN AMERICAN MOVEMENT IN LOS ANGELES, 1968-1980s is a survey of the constellation of individuals, institutions, and campaigns that informed a new Asian American identity in Los Angeles during this time. The exhibition on display until August 13, 2017 will share of the stories of individuals and organizations that came together to serve the needs of the Asian Pacific Islander (API) American community, focusing on the watershed year of 1968 and the following decades that are known as the API Civil Rights Movement. Chinese American Museum (CAM) will host an art workshop for families based on this exhibit. Visitors will participate in the real-time production of protest art such as signs, banners, posters, and other printed materials to convey a particular cause or message.
