About the exhibit: Rajkamal Kahlon is a South Asian American artist, originally from Northern California and now based in Berlin, Germany. Working with archival materials sourced from books, military reports, and photographs, her interdisciplinary practice transforms colonial narratives through painting. Her work “talks back” to these archival documents and “points us towards spaces of potentiality and freedom.”
The exhibition features a twenty-year survey of the artist’s work and is on view at the University Library Gallery at Sacramento State and the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts, Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture in Yuba City.
