SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA–You are invited to a screening of FREE CHOL SOO LEE on the San Francisco State University campus on Thursday, March 16, 4-7 pm, Coppola Theater (Fine Arts Building 101).
After a murder in San Francisco’s Chinatown, police arrest Chol Soo Lee, a 20-year-old Korean immigrant with previous run-ins with the law. He is convicted, and while serving a life sentence, an investigative reporter writes stories that galvanize a grassroots movement of Asian Americans to fight for Lee’s freedom. FREE CHOL SOO LEE explores a social justice movement, while also revealing the man behind the cause and the complex legacy he left behind. Directed by Julie Ha and Eugene Yi.
