San Leandro–This September 2021, the San Leandro Public Library is kicking off (be)Longing:Woven into the Fabric of Our Community. This series of intergenerational community events will promote the learning about and embracing of the diverse cultures that make up San Leandro. To kick off the series, enjoy an all-ages free talk with Popoca’s Chef Anthony Salguero on Wednesday, September 15 at 6 pm at San Leandro Main Library (300 Estudillo Ave. San Leandro, CA 94577 / 1-510-577-3971). Salguero will offer a casual talk about the tradition and history behind Salvadorean cuisine. To-go Salvadorean tamale tastings (while supplies last) and listening circles will follow. This event honors El Salvador’s Independence day (September 15), and marks the beginning of the library’s cultural celebration, Celebra! for Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15- October 15). Free parking is available. Masks will be required, and the Library Department requests that attendees maintain social distance during this event.
