SANTA CLARITA PUBLIC LIBRARY—Connecting through Art, Nature, Healing and Story

Santa Clarita Public Library presents Connecting through Art, Nature, Healing and Story, a series of family-friendly programs celebrating the cultural heritage of its immigrant communities. 

December 28, 1:30-3:30 pm: Art Exhibit & Reception, for All Ages

Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Branch hosts an art reception to celebrate young artists in the Canyon Country community. Artists share poetry and collages they created answering the question, “What does community mean to you?” Live music and refreshments will be provided.

September 25, 1:00-2:30 pm: Reflection Retreat, for All Ages

Library staff hosts a bilingual Spanish/English Reflection Retreat in partnership with the City Parks Department featuring self-care experiences including grounding exercises, journaling, mediation and a sound bath with crystal singing bowls.

October 15, 9:30 am -12:00 pm: Theater Workshop for 4th-6th Graders and Families

Raising the Curtain Foundation hosts Theater Workshop: A Celebration of the Performing Arts at Newhall Family Theatre. Stop at stations to learn about different theater professions in this interactive program. Children are invited to add a leaf with their career aspirations to the dream tree. October 22, 5:00-7:00 pm: Cultural Community Showcase, for All Ages

In partnership with Raising the Curtain Foundation, library staff hosts Connections: Cultural Community Showcase. Enjoy a showcase of multicultural community performers at Newhall Family Theatre. Hear stories about how the performers feel their craft connects them to their culture and community. November 13, 1:30-2:30 pm: Self-Care Rituals Workshop, tailored for Tweens, Teens and Adults

Old Town Newhall Branch hosts a program exploring self-care rituals. Join in to share your own practices and cultural remedies.  Create a personalized self-care kit!

December 11, 1:30-3:30 pm: Art Exhibit & Reception, for All Ages
