LOS ANGELES– Please join us as Officer Siordia, the Senior Lead Officer for LAPD’s Newton Division, sits down with our patrons and answers questions about whether LAPD checks immigration status, how to be a good witness to a crime, and what weapons are legal for me to carry every day. Contact person: Yago Cura , Librarian II, (323) 234-9106, ycura@lapl.org This program is part of California Humanities’ grant program entitled “Library Innovation Lab: Exploring New Ways of Engaging California’s Immigrant Communities.” Vernon Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library is one grantee of the 2017 cohort. The Library Innovation Lab pilot project provides training, support, and resources to a cohort of programming librarians, enabling them to design and implement new public humanities projects that will reach and engage underserved immigrant groups in their communities during the program period.
