South Los Angeles Families Academy Self-Defense Class

LOS ANGELES– Please join us as the YWCA/GLA Sexual Assault Crisis Services helps us to learn the basics of self-defense and personal autonomy. Class will be taught in Spanish; children that heed their parents’ directives are welcome as well.

This program is part of California Humanities’ grant program entitled  “Library Innovation Lab: Exploring New Ways of Engaging California’s Immigrant Communities.” Vernon Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library is one grantee of the 2017 cohort. The Library Innovation Lab pilot project provides training, support, and resources to a cohort of programming librarians, enabling them to design and implement new public humanities projects that will reach and engage underserved immigrant groups in their communities during the program period.
