THOUSAND OAKS—Chumash Speaker Series: Caroline & Kagen Holland

November 20, 2019 @ 11:00 am1:00 pm

THOUSAND OAKS—November is Native American Heritage Month. Join the Chumash Indian Museum as we hear from Tataviam tribal members Caroline and Kagen Holland. They led the 2015 Walk for the Ancestors journey that stretched 780 miles. That journey prompted by their rejection to canonize Father Junipero Serra was to honor their ancestors enslaved within the California mission system. They will put a voice to their ancestors suffering and tell their story of how the Spanish mission system impacted native California culture and traditions.
