THOUSAND OAKS—Chumash Speaker Series: Nakia Zavalla

THOUSAND OAKS—Nakia Zavalla is from the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. Not only is she a board member of the Chumash Museum, but she is a traditional dancer and singer of her Samala Chumash Culture. She will be talking about her matriarchal connection to her Samala Chumash ancestry. Her talk will include her story of being raised in her culture and how her journey has shaped her to be a strongadvocate of language and cultural sustainability.
