WATSONVILLE—Film Screening: Councilwoman

April 11, 2019 @ 12:00 pm2:00 pm

Still from Councilwoman. WATSONVILLE—In partnership with the Watsonville Film Festival Pajaro Valley Arts presents Councilwoman by Margo Guernsey. Politicians aren’t often full-time hotel housekeepers, union members, grandmothers, and immigrants working service jobs. Carmen Castillo changes that when she wins a seat on the City Council in Providence, Rhode Island. She maintains her cleaning job, as she takes on her new role in politics. This film is a journey behind the scenes of politics, after the election. Margo Guernsey documents American stories where the protagonists work in challenging spaces towards a more equitable world. This is her first feature length documentary. This is a free event, ADA accessible, with free parking. This project is supported by a Humanities for All Quick Grant.
