(Courtesy Historic Everett /Shutterstock) WEBINAR—Roger Ransom, Distinguished Professor of History and Economics, Emeritus, University of California, Riversidewill present a Zoom Webinar Sunday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. Drawing on research completed for his 2018 book, Gambling on War: Confidence, Fear, and the Tragedy of the First World War, professor Ransom will explore inter-relationships of traumatic global events and their economic sources and consequences. As we struggle through the Covid-19 global event, Professor Ransom will explore the history of previous generations’ responses to such large-scale global events – and discuss the roles and uses of history itself in understanding such events.
