WEST SACRAMENTO– “I Am Your Neighbor: A Tale of Two Cities” Documentary Film Series
October 12, 2017 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
WEST SACRAMENTO– Join Yolo County Library for our screening of the films Life in a Basket and Our Journey Home, in part one of our film series in which we humanize the homeless experience by sharing stories through documentary films.
In Life in a Basket, men and women experiencing homelessness explain what they have in their traveling carts and why the items they push around are so important to their physical, psychological, and spiritual survival. Our Journey Home follows the stories of three families and examines how their relationship to home has shaped them as they strive to support their families, further their education and careers, and give back to their communities. A panel discussion about homelessness and the cycle of poverty will be held between the two films. Free refreshments will be available. No registration is required. The event is free and open to the public.
Attendees are invited to participate in a donation drive for the Annual West Sacramento Community Giveaway Day. Art from the YoloArts I SEE YOU program, which is created by adults who are experiencing homelessness, will be on display and available for sale, with proceeds directly benefiting the respective artists.
