WHITTIER– REEL CLUB: Mendez v. Westminster: for the Children

WHITTIER– In 1946, eight years before the landmark Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education, Mexican Americans in Orange County won a class action lawsuit to dismantle the segregated school system that existed there. Sylvia Mendez will be at the library to discuss the film and recall the conditions that triggered the lawsuit and her parent’s involvement in the case.
