SUMMARY:BENEATH THE FLOORBOARDS - THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE REDMAN-HIRAHARA HOUSE
DESCRIPTION:BENEATH THE FLOORBOARDS \nWhat stories can a house hold after its people have moved on? In 2005\, students and archaeologists with the Cabrillo College field school excavated the grounds of the Redman-Hirahara House in Watsonville\, uncovering everyday objects left behind by the families who lived and worked there. Their findings shed light on an often-overlooked chapter of Japanese American history: the years after camp\, when families returned to the Pajaro Valley and rebuilt their lives.\nJoin archaeologists Patricia Paramoure\, Mary Gerbic and Jacob Stone\, as they share what they found\, including artifacts from the dig shown publicly\, and discuss what these objects reveal about home\, resilience and community.
