SUMMARY:SAN FRANCISCO—Potrero Hill Community Celebration
DESCRIPTION:SAN FRANCISCO—PlayGround presents A Potrero Hill Community Celebration\, featuring the unveiling of a new mural by Indigenous artist Natalie Contreras developed in partnership with the Association of Ramaytush Ohlone (ARO)\, and presentation of the 16th annual Young Playwrights Project\, featuring stage readings of Bay Area High School students Hiu Chu’s Take Charge (Galileo High School)\, Shannon Floyd Jr’s Where I’m From (Galileo High School)\, Oona Haskovec’s 2100 (Ruth Asawa School of the Arts)\, Alexis Tuchinda’s Curtain Speeches (The Nueva School). The celebration continues through the closing weekend of PlayGround’s Festival of New Works and short play showcase\, Best of PlayGround(SF) ’24. The mural project and public celebrations are generously underwritten by California Humanities and Avenue Greenlight. \nWhen: May 24-26 at 7pm\nWhere:Potrero Stage (1695 18th Street\, San Francisco) & Simulcast \nTICKETS: Admission to all festival events is free (donations gratefully accepted) and in-person capacity is limited.
